The present themework is carried out in the frame of the Comenius partnership between Kurt Tucholsky Gymnasium in Hamburg, IES Jorge Manrique in Palencia and Tørring Gymnasium in Tørring. // El presente tema se lleva a cabo en el marco de colaboración entre los intitutos implicados en el proyecto de Hamburgo, Tørring y Palencia.

Illness/wellness

A. Introduction (1-2 lessons)
Define what a healthy life is.

1.1. List some unhealthy things in your county.

2.2. Find health risks in a photo from the third world

Find two photos that show people who are beautiful / ugly
3.1. Who is ill?

B. Investigation (5-8 lessons)
Pick a topic for investigation

1. Product: A poster that can be passed on to the partners, and possibly be integrated in an exhibition in all three schools.
Lay-out: computerbased or just an ”old-fashioned” poster for instance in collage form
Size: A2
Language: English
Pass on 3-4 posters from each country to each of the two other countries.

2. Ideas for topics:
Bodyshaping (fitness/bodybuilding, trendy clothes)
Bodydecorations (piercing, tatoos)
Eating disorders (anorexia, bulemia)
Eating strategies (functional food, diets)
Getting ill from overdoing wellness activities
Medicated man

Encyclopedia
Media

4. Contents
1. Describe the phenomenon. Present the pros and cons of your topic.
2. What are people’s motivations for doing it? Discuss rational/emotional reasons.
3. Discuss reactions in society: social control by laws or peer groups (e.g. ban on smoking).
